BREAST RECONSTRUCTION
Breast reconstruction is usually recommended after the removal of a breast cancer. The type of surgery performed to reconstruct the breast varies according to the patient’s biotype and the size of the breast. Thin patients with an adequate weight and a small contralateral breast size present better conditions for breast reconstruction using skin expanders (see Skin Expanders) for later insertion of silicone prosthesis. In obese women or women with a large contralateral breast size, the breast reconstruction may be performed using a larger expander and silicone implant or with tissue from the abdomen.
